WHAT IS ONE EVENING?

ONE EV.26

One Evening is a single sitting. One speaker, one hall, no interval and no edits. It runs from mid afternoon until the hall clears, and the whole address is delivered in one go rather than split into sessions you have to keep up with.

You leave with something written down. Every seat gets a booklet, the last half hour is given to questions the audience submitted, and nobody is asked to sign up for anything on the way out.

Who is behind it HILM INSTITUTE

HILM INSTITUTE

Hilm Institute has run reading groups and public talks in Lahore since 2019. We are not a media company. Nothing said in the hall is cut into clips, and nothing is put behind a paywall afterwards.

The institute is funded by reserved seats and by the people who come back every year. General entry stays free so that nobody is priced out of a room they wanted to be in.

One Evening is the largest thing we do. The rest of the year is small rooms, twenty people at a time, working through one book without a stage or a microphone.

WHERE THE MONEY GOES

WHERE THE MONEY GOES

Reserved seats are the only thing we charge for, and they pay for three things. There is no separate donation ask on this page, and there will not be one from the stage.

  • The free seats.Roughly two thirds of the hall costs nothing to enter, and reserved tickets cover that gap.
  • The small rooms.Twenty seat reading groups run all year in Lahore, free to join, no application.
  • The booklets.Every seat gets printed material to take home, which is the only thing most people keep.

NOBODY PAYS
TO BE IN THE ROOM.

THE HALL IS
FILLING UP

General entry is free and always will be. Registration closes the moment the last block of seats goes, and the desk scans your code at Gate 2.
